Fort Worth Museum celebrates topping out milestone, 7/10/08

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History celebrated a construction milestone with a public topping out dedication, recognizing the installation of steel at the highest point of the Museum's new facility - located in the Museum's entrance and "Urban Lantern." The dedication featured comments by President Van Romans and Board Chairman Bob Lansford and music by Fort Worth's Kids Who Care, and culminated as Linbeck Construction hoisted the highest piece of steel into place. The painted steel beam bore the signatures of hundreds of Museum supporters who had signed the steel over the two preceding days as well as US and Texas flags and a peach tree, a nod to the fact that one of the courtyard spaces in the Legorreta+Legorreta-designed facility will feature a peach tree orchard. Completion of the new Museum facility is scheduled for the Fall of 2009.

Hope Place topping event

Seattle Union Gospel Mission celebrated the "topping off" their new facility for women and children, Hope Place, a donor-signed by steel beams at the highest point of the structure. Hope's Place is the completion of spring '09.

Topping Off Ceremony For New Henry C. Lee Institute (University of New Haven)

President Steven Kaplan and Dr. Henry C. Lee inscribe the final steel beam for a topping off ceremony of the Henry C. Lee Institute for Forensic Science at the University of New Haven on January 8, 2010. When completed, the Lee Institute will be the first of its kind anywhere in the world and will revolutionize the way crimes are solved. The center is set to open up in the fall of 2010.
